Marbella – 25 years ago!

Twenty five years ago we produced and directed our first promotional film about the Spanish town of Marbella using a friend’s camcorder (a heavy, cumbersome affair in those days) and two video machines linked together for the home editing. We even managed to add music using a simple cassette recorder switched on and off during the editing procedure.

Brian Carling studiously learnt his words so that he could present the film in a professional manner. The coup de grâce was the unexpected guest star – Sean Connery himself! He appeared while we were filming at the 18th hole of the Aloha Golf Course in Nueva Andalucia and sank an amazing putt – to our delight.

There are a number of even greater ’stars’ that feature in the personal interviews shown here. These include Phillip Burrows, Angela Drury and Mick and Sue Hillyard – all of whom were personal friends – and I’m sure they look exactly the same today as they did all those years ago! What really lovely people who took the whole film production so seriously and did so well.

We hope the amateur film gives a taste of what Marbella was like in those early years and which today, in many respects, remains exactly the same! Enjoy….

Hello Paul, I was going to say that Part 2 did not run, but now it has loaded.

I think You Tube is a bit slow this evening the video is very intermittent but we will keep trying.

    Best wishes from Marbella
